this is strange, we’re immortal
safe behind the gilded wall
on your knees, stumble and fall
the closest thing to blessed
in this post- modern mess
yet you turn to dirt just like the rest
so many words
somebody was hers
somebody was his
now we’ve become this
flawless faces fade away
films and photos, shades of grey
six feet down, encased in clay
flowers set on polished stone
left by someone you don’t know
how’s it feel to be this cold
dig a hole and find a grave
all your work archived and saved
scattered in pieces across the waves
the grass grows in the wind adrift
searchlights give essence a lift
the trees asleep, the branches shift
resting beneath Hollywood

static snow screens
What does this mean
These beings, these teens
These gaudy machines
Golden wings melt in the sun
Judgment day is yet to come
the life I led, the clothes I wore
The screaming face behind the door
Sanctimonious claims
in mainstream rags
is what the youth crave
Attention’s a plague
is this the garden of the new world
frolic in all these shining kingdoms
they’ll strike you blind
and they’ll strike you dumb
where you stand
I am God and you are not
And people need gods they can see
I’m not like them
Glimpse of heaven
Sweet perfection
Glimpse of heaven

we're so stoic
02:25
|
|||
With only the instruments you can afford
Conquer the world using only three chords
I finished my breakthrough in just a few days
refusing to smile when it finally got played
Run around ‘em, run around them, hey
There’s no way you could get along without me
Self absorbed sinners, you know how we feel
Look really cool standing in someone’s field
Insightful and spiteful we all fall apart
Doing our best to suffer for our art
Ted said comparison pilfers your joy
Dark secret love does thy life destroy
Get all you want cause no one wants to be poor
Confirm that my thoughts are more complex than yours

tv pretty

|

I know it turns our brains to rocks
What is it about the folks in the box?
We all win in plastic skin
When the microphone woman talks
Nobody’s perfect, but it helps
They feel more than you’ve ever felt
All that’s behind the velvet rope
We’ll lift the veil and live to hope
then again with lucky grins
we’ll dance upon that slippery slope
Diet Coke and isotopes
Rinse my mouth with liquid soap
Sell your soul to rock and roll
Restless hearts’ best way to cope
Nobody’s perfect, but it helps
They feel more than you’ve ever felt

I was born
Pathetic observance
My Tv
Processed existence
Might not get good
But it’ll get different
Get yourself out there and make your name worth something
God hates fakes
And you’re getting faker
Get a job
Start getting fatter
Hold it tight
Hail to the starstruck
if you fail you can always blame it on bad luck
Blessed be the industry
I need an idol to reach out and touch me
Blessed be celebrity
Now we can spend our way to immortality
Fell for the electric night
Amateur who can make it right
We’re losing fours and high-fives
will it, wish it, had it, lost it
A staggering
Machine of desire
Get a cross
Put your soul in a wire
Give a coin
To the empire
And for fifteen minutes get a place at the fire
I’m taking the long way there
Perfect bodies and perfect squares
Polished lips and thoughts to share
Lifted, crafted, forget, paycheck
Can’t wait till this gig is over

i have a razor

I have a razor and I’ll use it
I have some power
And you can bet that I’ll abuse it
I can’t help but be corrupted
I’m only human
I wish I had the courage to die/live
God loves to see you miserable
Wasn’t this supposed to be beautiful
I hope you’re happy now
It just gets worse and worse
