it's only sunday
03:14
|
|||
in the beginning i was bored
i'd listen to them praise the Lord
and wonder when i could get off my knees
i remember sitting in the snow
while memorizing sacred poems
reciting and forgetting apostle's creeds
what i like and what i don't wanna be
and what i want and i haven't got
it's only sunday, i'd rather be asleep
confessing something i'd rather not
they say it's only chemicals
they say we're only animals
but let me tell you something so are they
and maybe i don't wanna know
about what happens in black holes
and let the inhibition guide the way

wide awake
02:32
|
|||
i am a boy spinning in a chair
i am girl with lightning in her hair
i am the sun spilling its hot light
i am the blue of endless night
standing there, don't compare
at times admit i trust to fate
the doubt and fear i generate
they say it's His own blood they pour
still haven't found what i'm looking for
i can't feel, still i kneel
won't you turn for now into forever
wide awake

no noise tonight
04:36
|
|||
i was wondering if you could possibly improve me
recalling all the grace of an eternal majesty
hands extend an invitation like you've never seen one
the syllables are forced but it's good enough for me
according to the legend, a scientist's religion
a holy explanation for self-awareness
when the frontier is long gone we'll sit out on the front lawn
the soft-bellied descendants of the last real men
don't worry, they'll be no noise tonight
the thinking game of cowards, rome falls nine times an hour
don't pay attention, you'll only get confused cause
if anybody's winning, how can anybody lose
no matter the experience the years leave one delirious
and some will find it serious but probably not you
don't worry there'll be no noise tonight
worth whatever you can buy, avoiding contact of the eye
don't worry, there'll be no noise tonight
so toast civilization and all the things it might've been

before i float away
03:52
|
|||
walking through serenity
all these people talk at me
they all have many things to say
poets, professors, people of faith
before i float away
all this random philosophy
greatest minds tell you how to be
i'm wading through my memories
clutching handfuls of dreams
my feet fail me, i'm in the sky
round these parts there is no why

good luck morning
05:56
|
|||
any way that you smile
i'm free of denial
and i gaze across the years
and i keep the edges wild
disappear into the good luck morning
i am of solid mind
i was afraid of the sky
i was afraid of everything inside
and i go to the movies
and i sit down and write
and i do lots of things
and i always do them right
and i dance in the fear
and i live in the light
i'm thankful
i'm grateful
